The Bunyip State Parks supports a large, relatively undisturbed area of high quality vegetation. Both tourists and scientists alike visit to see these wonderful plants and fungi!
Did you know over 400 species of vascular plants has been found here? Some of which are nationally significant.
There are ten types of ecological vegetation classes (or EVCs):
- Wet Forest (Mountain Ash)
- Damp Forest (Messmate)
- Heathy Foothill Forest (Silvertop Ash)
- Heathy Wooland
- Riparian Forest
- Swampy Forest
- Riparian Thicket
- Wet Heathland
- Swampy Heathland
- Cool Temperate Rainforest
The heathlands contain the rare Swamp Bush-pea (Pultenaea weindorferi). As the name suggests they grow in swampy heathlands and the Bunyip State Park is the eastmost location they can be found. They have gorgeous yellow flowers that make them stand out.

Other rare flora species include Forest Sedge (Carex alsophila), Gully Grevillea (Grevillea barklyana), Lacy Wedge-Fern (Lindsaea microphylla), Tree Geebung (Persoonia arborea), and Long Pink-Bells (Tetratheca stenocarpa).
