About Us

Friends of Bunyip State Park (FoBSP) was first formed in mid 90’s, after the formal declaration of the Bunyip State Park, largely around the planning and creation of the iconic Button Grass Walk in the south of the new park – a great and beautiful nature trail.

Statement of Purpose

FoBSP is a small family-friendly volunteer group working with Parks Victoria to improve the amenity of Bunyip State Park for passive recreational visitation.

FoBSP undertake activities to suit all abilities, young and old, including walking track planning, creation and maintenance, tree planting, fauna and flora surveys, signage and interpretation, and restoration of habitat for indigenous animal populations. The agreed purpose of FoBSP is;

  • To provide support and foster public awareness and appreciation for the natural values of the Bunyip State Park and surrounding habitat.
  • To support the effective management of indigenous flora and fauna.
  • To bring into contact people with a common interest in the Park.
  • To assist with special projects selected by “Friends” in consultation with the appropriate authority.

Come and join us in our activities such as:

  • Wildlife surveys – citizen science
  • Partnering with Parks victoria
  • Community education and engagement
