One of the highlights for FoBSP members last year was our trip to Flinders to meet up with the coastal volunteers at Mushroom Reef. We had the opportunity to participate in the annual surveying of the reef which was quite a meticulous task with many of us having trouble with calculations and measurements and I don’t just mean the children!

We also learnt some pretty tricky scientific names for sea creatures, like Dreissena polymorpha, for Zebra Mussels!
There was something for everyone, some enjoyed the research, others the reef, and for some of the children it was simply the hot chocolate for morning tea.
